Caring Place Clothing Shop
209 West 2nd Street, Rock Falls

One of the ministries established for the people of this community by a gathering of believers from eight congregations including Community Mennonite Fellowship is the Caring Place Clothing Shop at 209 West 2nd Street in Rock Falls. This ministry provides 1000s of items of clothing each week to
area families at no charge.  Since moving to Rock Falls it has served 2000 families.

From its beginning in 1999 through August 2007, the Caring Place had provided 223, 889 clothing items to the people of the Sterling/Roch Falls area; shipped over 700 lbs to other communities; distributed over 900 items to nursing centers, Self Help and their homes for disabled adults; and sent 300 plus items to the the St. Louis Dream Center street ministry.

The Clothing Shop provides this weekly service to the community from its ministry site at 209 West 2nd Street, Rock Falls.  The Caring Place is open Tuesday 10-4 and Thursday 10-4 each week except on holidays.

Questions and other inquiries may be directed to Carolyn LeFevre at 815-441-2256.

What is your ministry as a follower of Jesus?

Each believer as a follower of Jesus by definition has a calling.  Just as in the human body, there are no spectators in the body of Christ.  Every person has a role, a task, a responsibility, a talent, a calling.

If you see a need or have a concern that God is nudging you to address, come live with us that faith and purpose what God is waking in you.

John Henry Newman names this responsibility, or better said, privilege in "God is so practical…”

"God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission ....      Therefore I will trust Him. Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away or merely consumed in futility. If I am sick, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my response to that perplexity will result in glory of Him; if I am in sorrow, my sorrow may even serve Him. My sickness, or perplexity, or sorrow may be the necessary components of some great end, which is now quite beyond us. He is a practical God and permits nothing to be spent in vain.”

-John Henry Newman’s "Prayers, Verses and Devotions

If you are seeking a way to live the life of faith Jesus taught and examplified, and so claim the coming of the kingdom of heaven, contact a follower of Christ from this gathering with your questions or gather with us in our worship or study as we respond to Christ's invitation to new life.  -Dan Rusmisel (815-238-3421)
